Approach

Nicole Chan came to photography from a career in finance and management consulting, and the studio still runs that way underneath: organised, prepared, and impossible to surprise. Fifteen years later it is a Boston photo and video team of three, with Karen Lane and Masao Okano shooting alongside Nicole.

The work is documentary first. We watch rather than arrange, and step in with quiet, clear direction only where it actually helps. Nobody is asked to hold a pose that feels wrong. What we are looking for is the in-between: the pause before the vows, the hand on a shoulder, the part of the day nobody thought to plan.

Colour is kept honest. Real skin, real tones, no filter over the top of the day. Every frame is edited by hand, one at a time, and galleries are usually with you inside a week. Weddings begin at $7,000 with Nicole and $5,500 with Karen or Masao.
